EASY DIY BATH BOMBS
Okay, who doesn’t love to come home after a long day, pop a fruity, brightly colored bath bomb in the tub, and play in the suds? *crickets* That’s what I thought. Now who loves paying $6.00+ for one fizzy bath experience? *Crickets, again.* Well, now we’re going to learn how to DIY our own bath bombs, so that you don’t have to!
Step One: Gather the Goods.
First, here’s what you’ll need to make some BOMB DIY bath bombs:
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup corn starch
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup Epsom salt
3 Tbsp. essential oils
1 tsp. water
shells or molds – I recommend these molds.
Step Two: Get to Mixin’!
Now that you have everything that you need, you simply mix the baking soda, corn starch, citric acid, Epsom salt, essential oils, food coloring, and water together!
Add your water in SLOWLY. This will make your mixture fizz, and we want to reduce the amount of bubbling during this process so that when you drop the bomb into your bath, you get the ultimate fizzy experience!
When adding your food coloring, only add in a small amount, as it is possible to stain your skin!
As you add in your essential oils, play with mixtures of scents to create your own unique bomb. You can find awesome starter kits here.
Step Three: Mold Your Bombs
Next, lay your molds on a protected surface, and pack each side with a HEAPING amount of product. Doing so will allow for the mixture to compress when your press the mold together, and you need it to compress so that it doesn’t crumble. This is where things may get tricky. If your bomb crumbles when you remove it from the shell, re-pack with more product and try again! You can find a variety of molds here. Play around with mixing colors to create the prettiest bomb of them all.
Step Four: Compress and Let Sit
Finally, once you are happy with the shape and integrity of your bath bombs, carefully remove from the shell and let sit for 24-48 hours. Ensure that the bomb is completely dry before you toss ’em in the tub for the best result.
Step Five: Enjoy!
Enjoy your swirling, fizzing new DIY bath bomb!
